Three Day Walking Safari Overview

Day One

12:00 – 13:00 Arrival & Orientation

Arrive at Zinzi River Lodge, where the lodge team and your guides welcome you with refreshments and a short briefing. It’s a calm start that allows you to settle in and prepare for the trail ahead.

13:00 – 17:00 First Steps on Foot

Our journey begins with an easy but immersive walk through the bushveld, open plains, and rocky ridges. Along the way, we learn to follow tracks, notice signs, and begin tuning into the rhythm of the wild.

17:30 Arrival at Riverside Camp

By late afternoon, we arrive at Riverside Camp, perched above the Olifants river. Sundowners and snacks are served before a relaxed dinner under the stars and stories shared by the campfire.

Day TWO

05:30 Coffee & Rusks by the Fire

The day begins at first light with hot coffee and rusks around the fire. The bush stirs to life as the group prepares for another full day on foot.

06:30 – 09:30 Morning Walk

We head out while the air is still cool and wildlife is active. This is the best time for tracking fresh spoor and observing animal behavior up close.

09:30 – 10:30 Mid-Morning Pause

A short rest gives us time to enjoy snacks and drinks. It’s also a chance to take in the morning’s discoveries before carrying on.

10:30 – 13:00 Pressing Deeper

We continue further into the reserve, exploring less-traveled areas. Each step reveals new landscapes and opportunities to learn more about the ecosystem.

13:00 – 14:30 Bush Lunch

Lunch is served picnic-style in the shade, offering a welcome break in the middle of the day. There’s time to eat, rest, and recover before moving on.

14:30 – 17:30 Afternoon Walk

The afternoon brings fresh perspectives as we cross open plains and rolling hills. Guides follow signs in the bush, keeping the walk flexible and responsive to what we encounter.

17:30 Arrival at Isitini Camp

By evening, we reach Isitini Camp, tucked away deep in the wilderness. A hearty dinner and firelight conversations end the day before settling into camp for the night.

Day THREE

05:30 Sunrise Call

The day starts with coffee and rusks as the sun rises over the reserve. It’s a simple ritual that sets the tone for the final stretch of the trail.

06:30 – 10:00 Morning Trail

We set out for one last walk, with the route guided by tracks, wind, and instinct. These hours are slower and often more reflective, giving time to absorb the wilderness.

10:00 Mid-Morning Rest

We pause to rest, snack, and enjoy the bush’s calm. It’s the final chance to soak up the silence before the return.

10:30 – 13:00 Back Toward the Lodge

The walk gradually leads us back toward Zinzi River Lodge. Every step feels like closing a circle, bringing the journey to its natural end.

13:00 – 16:00 Rest & Refresh

Arriving back at the lodge, guests check in and enjoy showers, quiet time, and a relaxed lunch. The afternoon allows for unwinding and enjoying a bit of well-deserved comfort after two days in the bush.

16:00 – 19:30 Afternoon Game Drive

We head out in an open safari vehicle for a classic game drive. A sundowner stop and a short night drive make this a highlight before returning to the lodge.

20:00 Dinner at the Lodge

Dinner is served in the lodge dining area or out on the deck. The evening ends with good food, good conversations and the sound of the night all around.

Day FOUR

06:00 Morning Coffee & Rusks

Our last day begins with a quiet coffee and rusks at sunrise. It’s a gentle farewell to the bush.

06:30 – 09:00 Morning Game Drive

We set off on a final game drive as the reserve comes alive with early light. It’s one last chance to spot wildlife before departure.

09:00 – 10:00 Breakfast at the Lodge

A hearty breakfast awaits back at the lodge. The morning is unhurried, giving time to reflect on the journey.

10:00 Departure

After breakfast, farewells are exchanged and bags are packed. You leave with memories of three nights fully immersed in the wilderness.

Since all of our walks are exclusive, the exact timing and pace of the day will be discussed with you upon arrival and tailored to suit your needs, fitness levels, and interests.
